You could call it the ultimate expression of “show” and “go.” FlaCarShows.com is holding a first-of-its-kind event at Daytona International Speedway during the National Auto Sport Association Championships Presented by Toyo Tires. Online pre-registration HERE.
On September 18, we’ll be hosting a car show during the NASA Championships, an event that will bring more than 300 of the best amateur racing drivers from across the country to determine who is the fastest. Winners will be crowned NASA National Champions, one of the highest honors in amateur road racing. Many NASA drivers have gone on to distinguished careers in professional racing.
The car show is located in a grassy part of the infield. It starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and ends at 2 p.m., but car show participants — or anyone who wants to watch the action — can come to the track on Friday to watch the qualifying races. While you’re showing your car on Saturday, you can watch the second round of qualifying races, and then on Sunday watch these drivers race for top honors. Cars hit the track at 8 a.m. and run all day till 5 p.m. all weekend long. Spectators can park and watch the action for free.
NASA racers drive hard, and the Championships brings out the best in all of them. Using the same infield road course configuration as the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, this year’s NASA Championships Presented by Toyo Tires will feature full fields of Camaros and Mustangs in NASA’s American Iron classes, Corvettes and Vipers, Porsches and BMWs in Super Touring and more than 30 racing and Time Trial classes. If you love cars, you are sure to find some of your favorites on track.
The NASA Championships are all about racing, but NASA also holds monthly track day events in 15 regions around the country, including its Florida Region. If you’ve ever wanted to drive your car on a real racetrack, NASA is the best way to do that, and they make it easy.
Start by signing up for a NASA membership at drivenasa.com, click the “Find an Event” button to find an event near you. Register for the event, show up at the track with a helmet and your car, and get ready to have the time of your life!
NASA will provide you with an instructor to ride along with you in the passenger seat and help get you started. Your instructor will teach you the fundamentals of high-performance driving, from the proper racing “line,” to steering and braking inputs and the importance of vision and smoothness. There is nothing like driving as fast as you can without the nagging fear of a speeding ticket. We will warn you in advance: It’s addictive!
You can satisfy your need for speed this fall with NASA. Who knows? Maybe one day you will be racing at the NASA Championships! Find more helpful tips at the NASA website.
