My step dad bought this in early 1967. It had only an AM radio so I’d have my boom box in the backseat. Took it on my first date. I learned to drive in it, took it to my prom in 1980. It was a hideous beater back then. It always smelled like menthols, mold and despair. But it always got us kids to the party and back. Step dad drove all of the hubcaps off of it, took terrible care of it, slapped a $49.95 Earl Schieb paint job on it then parked it outside in 1983 where it sat 15 years. Windows down. It was a terrarium. In 1998 after years of trying to convince my mom to restore or remove I convinced her it had to go. As I towed it down the driveway after an all day excavation she was standing there crying and finally agreed to write the checks if I did the rest. It was quite a job. My mom died a year later and only took one ride in it but it sure made her happy. Over 20 years later it’s still going strong. 200ci and C4. Just drove it from LA to Sacramento. Got 22 mpg 😉🤙 #fordtough #1966mustang
